Heath Tate

Principal Architect + Partner

AIA

Heath is a highly accomplished architect with extensive experience and a strong passion for his work. Raised in Southwestern Oklahoma, Heath's early exposure to residential construction sites, his family's hardware store and lumberyard, and junior high and high school drafting classes ignited his interest in architecture. He earned an associate degree from Western Oklahoma State College in Altus, the city where he first discovered architecture, and a bachelor's degree in Architecture with honors from the University of Oklahoma.

Since 2000, Heath has been an integral of the MA+ team, and has served as one of the principle architects and partners since 2014. In addition to his work at MA+, Heath also served as an adjunct instructor at the OU College of Architecture from 2003-2006. As most architects tend to be, he is a jack-of-all-trades and skilled at working with clients, contractors, and project architects to ensure that every aspect of a project meets MA+'s high standards. Heath is a fan of live entertainment, including sports, concerts, and performing arts. Because of his passion for these project types, he has led the design of athletic, eSports, and performing arts venues as well as manages various projects in the office.

Heath is an avid fan of the OU Men's Basketball team, and he credits their success, particularly under the legendary Billy Tubbs, as a major factor in his decision to attend the university. He has attended nearly every home game since 1997 and remains closely connected to OU through his service on the Professional Advisory Board for the Division of Architecture, as well as his involvement on the Executive Committee for the Tip-In Club supporting the basketball team.

If it's not architecture or basketball monopolizing his time, Heath can often be found with a good book or a camera in his hand. His office is adorned with pictures he has taken during his travels to beautiful destinations such as Colorado, Alaska, Hawaii, and New York City. If you ask him about his latest read, be prepared to spend some time chatting - he is always happy to share his thoughts on a good book.
